Pressotherapy Treatment in Kirkham: A Calm Reset for Heavy Legs

What Pressotherapy Treatment Actually Feels Like

Pressotherapy treatment is compression therapy delivered through inflatable garments that wrap around your legs and lower body. You lie back on the treatment bed, fully clothed in light leggings, and the device cycles air through chambers in a slow, rhythmic sequence. From the feet upward, then a pause, then again.

It feels like a firm, even hug travelling up the leg. Not painful. Not aggressive. Most clients describe it as deeply relaxing, the kind of stillness where some genuinely fall asleep before the cycle finishes.

A 30-minute pressotherapy treatment session covers the legs and lower abdomen. The 45-minute version adds extended cycles for clients who want a longer reset or have more leg fatigue to work through. I keep the room calm during the session – no phone-checking, no chat unless you want it. Many of my clients book pressotherapy as their one weekly do-nothing appointment, the slot where the only thing required is to lie still.

When the cycle finishes, you stand up. Legs feel lighter. That is the whole point.

Who I See Booking Pressotherapy

Four groups, mostly. The first is women on their feet all day. Hairdressers, nurses, retail workers, teachers, occasionally chefs. By Friday their legs feel heavy and tired. A session between Wednesday and Friday tends to be the format that makes the rest of the week easier.

The second is clients managing a desk-bound week followed by long weekends. Long drives or long flights, family events that pile up across the week, occasional long days behind the wheel. Sitting for hours leaves legs feeling sluggish in a way that walking and stretching alone do not always shift. A 30 or 45-minute session before or after travel gives the body that physical reset.

The third is my facial clients who add pressotherapy as a 5-minute extension to their bespoke facial. While I work on your face during the cooling phase, the leg compression cycle runs in parallel. You walk out with the skin work done and the legs taken care of in the same hour.

The fourth is a smaller group, but I want to mention them. Clients who book pressotherapy as a private weekly stillness slot – the one hour they let themselves be looked after with no specific skin or body goal attached. It is permission to lie down for half an hour and be quiet. That counts as a valid reason to book.

I do not present pressotherapy treatment as a weight-loss service, and I do not market it that way. What it does well is help with the heavy-leg feeling, support lymphatic flow, offer a calm fully-clothed treatment option, and give clients who do not want skincare or product-led work a sensible alternative.

Standalone Session or Facial Add-On

The two standalone formats run at £30 for 30 minutes and £40 for 45 minutes. Both cover the lower body. The longer version simply runs more compression cycles, useful if you have time, want a deeper reset, or are using pressotherapy as your main wellness slot for the week.

The add-on format runs at £20 and pairs with any bespoke facial. The compression garment is fitted at the start of the facial, the cycle runs alongside the cooling and mask phases, and you finish both treatments at the same time. No extra appointment slot. No second journey to the studio.

For first-time pressotherapy treatment clients, I usually recommend a 30-minute standalone session first. It gives you space to feel how your body responds without anything else happening in the room. Once you know you like it, the add-on format becomes a sensible weekly or fortnightly habit alongside facial work.

If you book the Bespoke Facial Plus with Pressotherapy package, both treatments are built into the time and price together. Same logic, less back-and-forth.

What Pressotherapy Will Not Do

I am direct about this part.

Pressotherapy will not flatten your stomach or break down fat. It will not give you a slimmer look in any clinical sense, and it will not replace movement, hydration, and proper rest. Anyone selling it that way is reaching beyond what the technology actually does.

What it does is move fluid through the lymphatic system in a mechanical, rhythmic way. That is helpful for the heavy-leg sensation many clients describe. It is not a substitute for medical care if you have diagnosed lymphedema, varicose veins under specialist review, deep vein thrombosis history, or pregnancy-related circulation concerns. In those cases, please speak to your GP first. I am happy to discuss adding pressotherapy back in once you have medical clearance.

I also will not stack pressotherapy with promises about cellulite. The honest answer is that compression sessions feel pleasant, can complement healthy movement and hydration, may make skin feel firmer in the short term, and offer an honest hour of stillness during a busy week. Anything beyond that is overpromising, and overpromising is not how I work.

How to Build It Into Your Routine

For most clients, monthly is plenty. One 30-minute pressotherapy treatment in the second half of the month covers the heavy week before your period or your busiest work stretch.

For clients who travel often or stand on their feet eight hours a day, fortnightly works better. A weekly schedule is rarely necessary, though some clients book it during particularly demanding seasons. End-of-quarter at work, the week before a family wedding, the run-up to a long-haul flight, a heavy training block before a charity run.

If you are already a regular facial client, the add-on slot is the simplest format. You are already in the studio, already lying down on the treatment bed. Adding pressotherapy costs you nothing in time and one extra £20 line on the invoice.

If you are new to my studio, the cleanest entry route is a 30-minute standalone session. We have a brief chat about how you feel in your body that week, you have the session, and we book the next one only if you genuinely felt the difference.

Questions & Answers

No. The compression is firm but even, and you stay fully clothed throughout. Most clients find it deeply relaxing – some fall asleep before the cycle ends. If anything ever feels uncomfortable, we adjust the pressure level or stop the cycle early. Comfort is the baseline.

Most clients feel a difference immediately – lighter legs, less of that heavy-week feeling. Whether it lasts beyond a day depends on lifestyle. Combined with hydration, walking, and decent sleep, the lighter feeling tends to hold longer. Pressotherapy supports your body, it does not replace movement.

Not without medical clearance. Pregnancy changes circulation in ways that need GP or midwife sign-off before any compression therapy. If you are pregnant and would like to discuss it, please bring written clearance to your appointment. I will happily build a plan around what your medical team approves.

Monthly suits most clients. Fortnightly works better for those on their feet all day or travelling regularly. Weekly is rarely necessary outside of demanding seasons. The honest answer is that you do not need a high frequency to feel the benefit, and I would rather you book what you actually want than what fills my calendar.

Yes. The 5-minute add-on at £20 fits inside any bespoke facial. The compression garment runs during the cooling and mask phases of the facial, so both treatments finish at the same time. If you want it built in by default, the Bespoke Facial Plus with Pressotherapy package handles that for you.

If you have varicose veins under specialist care, a history of deep vein thrombosis, lymphedema diagnosis, or any other circulation condition, please speak to your GP first. Pressotherapy is a wellness service, not a medical treatment. With clearance, we can discuss how to incorporate it. Without clearance, I will not run the session.
