One Appointment for the Whole Face
A full face wax at my studio covers the face with the eyebrows left out. It takes 20 minutes and costs £25. For face waxing in Kirkham, it is the simplest booking when more than one area bothers you and you would rather not book them one by one.
What a full face wax includes
On my price list it reads Full Face Wax (eyebrows excluded), and that bracket matters. Brows are their own appointment. The rest of the face sits under one service: 20 minutes, £25.
I also list the small areas separately. Upper lip and chin are £7 each. The nose is £6. If only one of those bothers you, book that one and nothing more. The full face is for when you would otherwise tick several of those boxes.
Apart from the brows, it covers the whole face: upper lip, chin and nose, the cheeks and the sides of the face, the jawline, the forehead and the neck. If you are not sure whether an area you have in mind counts, ask me when you book.
Face waxing in Kirkham: hot wax only
On the face I use hot wax and nothing else. Strip wax never goes near it. I keep to the same rule on the bikini area and underarms, so this is not a face-only habit.
Hot wax goes on warm and comes off without a cloth strip. So you will not see strips anywhere near your face at my studio. The wax I use is a professional one, chosen for your skin type and the area I am working on.
I wax the body as well as the face, and the same care goes into both. You can see every area I wax, face and body, with what each one involves.
Who a full face wax suits
It suits you if you already book your upper lip and chin together and keep thinking about adding another area. It also suits anyone who would rather sort the whole face in one short slot than plan a separate visit for each part.
The numbers are simple. Upper lip and chin together come to £14. Add the nose and you are at £20. The full face is £25 for the whole face apart from the brows, in one 20-minute appointment. So it comes down to how many areas you would book anyway.
It is less useful if one small area is all you care about. A single upper lip wax is quicker and cheaper, and I am happy to do exactly that. I would never push a bigger service when a smaller one does the job.
If your brows need attention too, add an eyebrow wax. It is £14 and takes 15 minutes. Book each service on its own and I will put them back to back, so face and brows are done in one visit.
You do not have to start with the full face. If you are new to waxing, you can begin with one small area and add more on a later visit.
Getting the hair length right
Wax needs something to hold on to. I look for hair of about 5 mm, which usually means three to four weeks after you last shaved. Shorter than that and the wax struggles to grip, so some hairs stay behind and you leave less happy than you should.
If you are moving from shaving or tweezing to waxing, the weeks of waiting are the hardest part. Put the razor down and let the hair grow, even when it feels like the wrong direction. It is the only way to give the first appointment a fair start. Waxing lasts longer than shaving, and those weeks of patience are what let the wax grip properly.
The face does not grow back evenly. The upper lip and chin are quicker, and they are usually ready for wax again after about three weeks. The rest of the face takes around five to six weeks. Hair grows at its own pace for each person, so take those numbers as a guide, not a promise.
That is why I suggest a simple rhythm to my full face clients. At three weeks, come in for the upper lip and chin only. Then have the full face every second visit.
Will it hurt?
Waxing does hurt a little, and I won’t pretend it doesn’t. The hair comes out from the root, and that always brings some discomfort. How prepared you are when you arrive makes a real difference.
With a first-time client I start with small sections and check how you are getting on, then move to larger ones once you settle. I chat with you about anything except the wax, so you are not bracing for each pull. The principle I work by is simple: the more relaxed you are, the faster and less painful the wax.
You lie down for the whole appointment. When the weather turns cold, I switch on the heated blanket on my couch, so you lie on a warm couch rather than a chilly one.
When I won’t wax your face
Some skincare and medication rule out a face wax. Retinoids, peels and acne medication are on that list, so if you are using any of them, I will not wax your face. Please tell me before you book rather than on the day.
These are the waiting times I work to. After a peel or your last retinoid, I ask for at least two weeks. With acne medication taken by mouth, I wait until six months after you finish the course.
If your skin is particularly sensitive or you have any other concerns, let me know before your appointment and I will adjust my approach.
After your face wax
Aftercare for the face is the same as for waxing anywhere on the body. For 24 hours, skip the sauna and the sunbed, and leave hard gym sessions for another day. Stay out of the swimming pool for those 24 hours too. If you can, leave make-up off for the day as well.
Before you book
You can add other waxing to the same visit. Book each service on its own and I will schedule them back to back. If you are travelling in from Preston or Lytham, booking face and brows in one visit saves you a second trip.
Every price for face waxing in Kirkham is public, so you can check the waxing section of my price list before you choose. If you are still deciding between the full face and a single area, send me a message and I will help you pick the one that fits.
